3357:15-19-11. SERVICE DOG

  • In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA), Stark state college allows service dogs in its buildings, classrooms, and dining areas when accompanied by an individual with a disability who indicates the service dog is trained to provide, and does provide, a specific service that is directly related to the disability.

    Stark state college may not permit a service dog if it poses a substantial and direct threat to health or safety or when the presence of the dog constitutes a fundamental alteration to the nature of the program or service. Stark state college will make those determinations on a case-by-case basis.

    Definition:

    Service Dog: Any dog individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability and who meets the definition of "service animal" under the ADAAA regulations at 28 CFR 35.104. The work or tasks performed must be directly related to the individual's disability.
