3769-6-31. Starter's assistants

With the approval of the stewards, the starter shall be required to appoint additional assistants in sufficient number, which in any event shall be no less than eight, so as to insure that each starting horse in each race of that day's live racing program will be promptly and efficiently loaded in the starting gate. Neither the starter nor his assistants shall strike or use abusive language towards a jockey upon penalty of disciplinary action by the stewards. Neither the starter nor his assistants shall exercise excessive force or abuse upon a horse upon penalty or disciplinary action by the stewards.
