4501-52-05. Dual use buses

(A) If any school bus as defined in section 4511.01(f) of the Revised Code is used in the transportation of passengers for hire by a motor transportation company or a common carrier by motor vehicle or by a private motor carrier or contract carrier by motor vehicle, that school bus:

(1) Is subject to section 4513.51 of the Revised Code;

(2) Shall be inspected in compliance with this chapter of the Administrative Code; and

(3) Shall, at the time the school bus is presented for inspection under the rules of this chapter of the Administrative Code:

(a) Display the annual school bus inspection decals as required by section 4511.761 of the Revised Code; and

(b) Display a valid school bus registration identification number as required by section 4511.764 of the Revised Code. The owner or operator of the bus, at the time the school bus is presented for inspection under the rules of this chapter of the Administrative Code, shall present valid documentation that the owner or operator is properly licensed by the department of public safety to transport pupils to or from school as required by section 4511.763 of the Revised Code.

(B) If any church bus as defined in section 4503.07 of the Revised Code is used in the transportation of passengers for hire by a motor transportation company or a common carrier by motor vehicle or by a private motor carrier or contract carrier by motor vehicle, that church bus is subject to section 4513.51 of the Revised Code and shall be inspected in compliance with this chapter of the Administrative Code.
