4765-21-11. Fire instructor or fire safety inspector instructor crossover certification

    (A) The executive director shall issue a fire instructor certificate to a fire safety inspector instructor who meets the following requirements:

    (1) In the preceding seven years, the applicant has been certified for at least five years as a firefighter;

    (2) The applicant possesses a current and valid firefighter certificate that is in good standing;

    (3) The applicant passes the knowledge examination as set forth in rule 4765-20-06 of the Administrative Code at the firefighter II level;

    (4) The applicant completes the four hour "Fire Service Training Module" ;

    (5) The applicant completes the four hour "Live Fire Training Awareness Module" ;

    (6) The applicant:

    (a) Shall not have been convicted of any of the following:

    (i) Any felony;

    (ii) A misdemeanor committed in the course of practice;

    (iii) A misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.

    (b) Shall not have committed fraud, misrepresentation, or material deception in applying for, or obtaining a certificate issued under section 4765.55 of the Revised Code and this chapter.

    (7) The applicant submits a completed "Fire, Assistant Fire, or Fire Safety Inspector Instructor Initial Application."

    (B) An applicant for a fire instructor certificate, who wishes to provide instruction in any live fire training courses, shall meet the live fire instructor requirements as set forth in rule 4765-21-03 of the Administrative Code.

    (C) The executive director shall issue a fire safety inspector instructor certificate to a fire instructor who meets the following requirements:

    (1) In the preceding seven years, the applicant has been certified for at least five years as a fire safety inspector;

    (2) The applicant possesses a current and valid fire safety inspector certificate that is in good standing;

    (3) The applicant passes the knowledge examination as set forth in rule 4765-21-05 of the Administrative Code for fire safety inspector instructor;

    (4) The applicant completes the eight hour "Fire Safety Inspector Training Module" ;

    (5) The applicant:

    (a) Shall not have been convicted of any of the following:

    (i) Any felony;

    (ii) A misdemeanor committed in the course of practice;

    (iii) A misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.

    (b) Shall not have committed fraud, misrepresentation, or material deception in applying for, or obtaining a certificate issued under section 4765.55 of the Revised Code and this chapter.

    (6) The applicant submits a completed "Fire, Assistant Fire, and or Fire Safety Inspector Instructor Initial Application."

    (D) Applicants shall complete the requirements in paragraph (A) of this rule within one year .

    (E) Applicants shall complete the requirements in paragraph (C) of this rule within one year.

    (F) A certificate to teach issued pursuant to this rule shall be issued in accordance with the certification cycles and pro-rated renewal requirements set forth in rule 4765-21-15 of the Administrative Code.
