PUBLIC NOTICE

 

The Ohio Board of Nursing (Board) will conduct a public hearing on the fourth floor, Suite 400, at 17 South High Street, Columbus, OH, on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until all parties in attendance have had an opportunity to be heard.

 

The Board is proposing to adopt the following new rules to replace existing rules: 4723-1-03 dealing with Board records and document; 4723-3-01 dealing with the unauthorized practice of nursing; 4723-4-01, 4723-4-03 to 4723-4-09 dealing with standards of safe nursing practice for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses; 4723-5-08 dealing with conditional approval of prelicensure nursing education programs; 4723-5-11 dealing with administrators of prelicensure nursing education programs; 4723-5-12 dealing with prelicensure nursing education program policies; 4723-5-14 dealing with IV therapy in the curriculum of a practical nursing education program; 4723-5-17 dealing with prelicensure nursing education program contractual relationships; 4723-6-01   to 4723-6-04 dealing with the Alternative Program for Chemical Dependency; 4723-7-03, 4723-7-04, and 4723-7-07 dealing with licensure of nurses; 4723-8-02 and 4723-8-03 dealing with registered nurses holding a certificate of authority; 4723-10-03 dealing with courses in medication administration for licensed practical nurses; 4723-13-01, 4723-13-02, and 4723-13-04 dealing with delegation by licensed nurses; 4723-14-03, 4723-

14-05, 4723-14-06, 4723-14-08, and 4723-14-14 dealing with continuing education for nurses; 4723-16-01 dealing with procedures for conducting an adjudication; 4723-18-01, 4723-18-08 to 4723-18-10 dealing with the Practice Intervention and Improvement Program; 4723-20-01, 4723-20-03, and 4723-20-04 dealing with prevention of disease transmission; 4723-23-02 dealing with temporary certificates for dialysis technicians; 4723-23-03 dealing with certification as on Ohio Certified Dialysis Technician; 4723-23-06 dealing with continuing education for dialysis technicians; 4723-23-08 dealing with dialysis technician training programs; 4723-23-14 dealing with standards for safe dialysis care.

 

The Board is proposing to rescind the following existing rules: 4723-4-10 dealing with registered nurse first assistants in surgery; 4723-11-01 to 4723-11-05 dealing with standards for approval of peer support programs; 4723-16-12 dealing with reinstatement of a suspended license or certificate; 4723-19-01 to 4723-19-20 dealing with advanced practice nurses.

 

The Board is proposing to adopt the following new rules: 4723-24-01 to 4723-24-07 dealing with emeritus registration for retired nurses.

Persons who pre-register will be permitted to testify before witnesses whom have not pre-registered. Testimony presented during the hearing or submitted to Mr. Brion will be considered by the Board at its meeting on November 20-21, 2003.
