    NOTIFICATION OF PUBLIC HEARING

    Notice of hearing

    to amend Rules 4501-53-02, -03, -05, -06, & -11,

    to rescind Rules 4501-53-01, -04, -07, -08, -09, -10, & -12, and

    to adopt new Rules 4501-53-01, -04, -07, -08, -09, -10, -12, & -13

    of the Ohio Administrative Code in accordance with Chapter 119. of the Ohio Revised Code

     

    Notice is hereby given that a hearing will be held by the Ohio Department of Public Safety for the purpose of considering the amendment, rescission, and adoption of the above-listed proposed administrative rules.

     

    Based on a review of Chapter 4501-53 of the Ohio Administrative Code and as authorized in Section 4508.08 of the Ohio Revised Code, the Department of Public Safety proposes to amend Rules 4501-53-02, -03, -05, -06, & -11, to

    rescind existing Rules 4501-53-01, -04, -07, -08, -09, -10, & -12, and to adopt

    new  Rules  4501-53-01,  -04,  -07,  -08,  -09,  -10,  -12,  &  -13  of  the  Ohio

    Administrative Code. The rules of Chapter 4501-53 of the Administrative Code govern the motorcycle safety and education program administered by the Department of Public Safety as provided in Section 4508.08 of the Revised Code and changes are proposed for the purpose of updating, reorganizing, simplifying, and clarifying the rules. Changes include setting forth requirements for private provider certification to offer motorcycle courses approved by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, establishing requirements for the  Experienced Rider Course, deleting unnecessary language, changing inconsistent language, reorganizing rule language, updating references to the Ohio Administrative and Ohio Revised Codes, and clarifying time frames for certification renewal.

     

    A public hearing on the proposed rules will be held Monday, December 19, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in room 109 (first floor) of the Charles D. Shipley Building, Ohio Department of Public Safety, 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio, 43223.

     

    Either written or oral testimony will be received at the hearing. Additionally, written comments received at the address below before the hearing will be treated as testimony.
