4758-5-01                    Requirements    for    certification    of    chemical                            dependency counselor assistants (CDCA).

 

 

 

(A)   To be certified as a chemical dependency counselor assistant (CDCA), an individual shall complete the following:

 

(1)Be currently employed by or volunteering in a chemical dependency counseling position where the twelve core functions are used under supervision.

 

(2)(1) Forty hours of approved education in chemical dependency counseling/clinical methodsspecific education. The required content areas with the specified contact hours are as follows:

 

(a) Addiction knowledge (5 hours)

 

(b) Treatment knowledge (9 hours)

 

(c) Professionalism (6 hours)

 

(d)Evaluation (3 hours)

 

(e) Service coordination (4 hours)

 

(f)Documentation (3 hours)

 

(g) Counseling

 

(i) Individual (5 hours)

 

(ii) Group (5 hours)

 

(3) Obtain supervisor verification.

 

(4)(2)  Submit  a  signed  statement  agreeing  to  practice  by  the  code  of  ethical standards adopted by the board.
