    This rule establishes the bag limits, designated seasons, areas, hours and acceptable methods of taking deer.

    The prior rule was changed over 50% and restructured to make for easier reading. The dates were changed for this year.

    Rules had to be in place for our pilot eCheck for deer for this fall so they were added in and we still had to address the traditional way for checking deer.

    Key terms were standardized and used throughout the rule. CCW language was moved to 1501:31-15-02

    Youth deer hunting rules were moved to this rule.

    02/04/2008 - Correction was made on the year in the public hearing notice. The year 2007 was changes 2008.

    02/20/2008 - Added language to expire the antlerless deer permit in zone c.

    02/26/2008 - Removed Wayne County from Zone A. It was listed in both Zone A and Zone B. Also changed youth gun season dates from November 15-16, 2008 to November 22-23, 2008

    This change will have minimal affects on fees. There will be some new equipment added for the eCheck pilot program. This will not require appropriations for the current biennium.

    This change may show a savings to the hunters with the extension of the antlerless deer permit.
