OHIO DEPARTMENT OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES

Pursuant to sections 5104.29 and Chapter 119. of the Revised Code, the director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services gives notice of the department's intent to consider the amendment of the rules as identified below and of a public hearing thereon. These rules are being proposed for amendment to update and clarify policy relating to the administration of the Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) program

 

Rule 5101:2-17-01 "Step Up To Quality (SUTQ): program standards" is being proposed for amendment to reformat the appendices, clarify the standards and requirements, add changes to professional development that includes a new SUTQ Professional Development Certificate, and include definitions for the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) staff.

 

Rule 5101:2-17-02 "Step Up To Quality (SUTQ): eligibility for registration" is being proposed for amendment to add registration requirements and restrictions, and to include participation by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) licensed programs.

Appendices have been revised for rule citation corrections.

 

Rule 5101:2-17-03 "Step Up To Quality (SUTQ): desk reviews, verification visits and star rating awards" is being proposed for amendment to create a two-star rating transition, update the criteria for removals and reductions, and to include participation by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) licensed programs.

 

Rule 5101:2-17-04 "Step Up To Quality (SUTQ): changes, renewals, removals or requests to withdraw a SUTQ rating" is being proposed for amendment to remove the requirement for programs to notify the department for changes in the lead teacher, adds registration requirements and updates to the criteria for renewals, removals and reductions, and includes programs licensed by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE).

 

Rule 5101:2-17-06 "Step Up To Quality (SUTQ): county agency responsibilities" is being proposed for amendment to remove Type B home provider and replace it with family child care provider.
