    An increase of prisoner maximum detention time from the current five-day limitation to a twelve-day limitation allows local jurisdictions to maintain custody of prisoners sentenced to twelve or less days; including ten-day DUI sentences.

    Five day facilities are being changed to twelve day facilities.

    It is our estimation that local jurisdictions can benefit by having to transport less prisoners to the county jail. County jails can benefit by having less prisoners; especially for many county jails that are already near, at, above their maximum bed count.
