    LEGAL NOTICE

     

    The State Board of Education hereby announces that it will hold a public hearing on the following rule actions:

     

    Data Acquisition Sites - Proposed amendment of rules 3301-3-01 through 3301-3-07 regarding data acquisition sites.

     

    District/School Accountability - Proposed rescission and adoption of rule 3301-15-02 regarding exemptions from certain rules and statutes; proposed rescission of 3301-50-01 regarding additional performance standards, standard unit of improvement, and overall satisfactory progress; and proposed rescission of 3301-101-01 regarding exemptions from certain rules and statutes.

     

    Professional Conduct - Proposed rescission and adoption of rule 3301-20-01 regarding employment of individuals with criminal convictions.

     

    Proficiency Tests - Proposed amendment of rule 3301-13-07 regarding criteria for awarding diploma with honors.

     

    Licensing and Education Programs - Proposed new rule 3301-24-11 regarding alternative licensure for principals.

     

    Special Education - Proposed amendment of rule 3301-53-01 regarding chartering county board of mental retardation and developmental disabilities special education programs; and proposed amendment of rule 3301-55-01 regarding minimum standards for chartering special education programs in state developmental centers and hospitals of the development of mental retardation and developmental disabilities and the department of mental health.

     

    Certification - Proposed new rule 3301-69-01 regarding national board stipends.

     

    Finance - Proposed rescission of rule 3301-51-30 regarding procedures for determining Medicaid services for handicapped and suspected handicapped children; proposed amendment of rule 3301- 53-03 regarding excess cost charges for county boards of mental retardation and developmental disabilities special education programs; proposed amendment of rule 3301-92-01 regarding textbooks and instructional materials funds; proposed amendment of 3301-92-02 regarding capital improvement and maintenance funds; and proposed rescission of rule 3301-92-03 regarding budget reserve funds.

     

    (Note that rules 3301-92-01 and 3301-92-02 were amended pursuant to sections 3315.17 and

    3315.18 of the Revised Code, which require the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Auditor of State to jointly adopt rules regarding such funds. The amendments were suggested and approved by the Auditor of State.)

     

    The hearing will be held July 11, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in the Conference Center at the Ohio School for the Deaf located at 500 Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio. The hearing will proceed until all testimony is given.
