In the event of loss of any livestock due to theft or suspected theft, the owner of a recorded livestock brand shall immediately contact the departmentgive verbal notice to the director of agriculture on the toll-free number, 1-800-252-1955, and shall also notify the sheriff's office in the county in which the loss occurred.
