109:2-7-05  Certification  of law enforcement  canine units.

(A)            All testing for certification of law enforcement canine units shall be approved by the executive director according to minimum st?idards established by the ootmeil COMMISSIO?.

(B)             Each geneml ?my ?nd nareetie ??eeteF canine unit shall ?e certified eve?F two years by the executive director unless exempted because of unforeseen circumstances such ? illness, emergency emplo?nent situation, or other valid reasons. The agency employing the canine unit shall submit a ?rritten request for exemption ?om the executive director. If

Each  canine  unit  shall  be  certified  eac? time  a handler  is  assigned  a

 

 

different canine or a canine is ?signed a different handler before the ?lit assumes law enforcement duties.

Certification shall be based on successful completion of an approved certification examination as described in p?agraph (B) of rule 109:2-7-03 of the Administrative Code for g??eral ??ty  PATROL-RELATED Canines or p?agraph (C) of rule 109:2-7-03 of the Administrative  Code for HaFeetie ?eteetef SPECIAL PURPOSE canines, as 1 ?s an he reeemmea?atiea ef the e?'aH?aters. The evaluator will make final decisions with regard to weather conditions, adequacy of ?e testing site, eligibility of the unit to be tested, and controllability of ?e canine. No canine which has failed to meet the minimum elibility standards set forth in  this chapter, or which the evaluator determines to be uncontrollable or does not o??in  an  acceptable  rating  in  obedience,  when   applic?le,  shall  be

permitted to continue the certi?cation examination.
