NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 

A public hearing will be held by the Office of Attorney General Richard Cordray and the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the conference room of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy located at 1650 State Route 56 SW, London, Ohio 43140. The purpose of the hearing will be to solicit public comment on proposed changes to Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) 109:2-1-02 titled Definitions, 109:2-1-12 titled Certification before service and re-entry requirements, 109:2-9- 11 titled Credit for prior equivalent training, and training requirements upon re-appointment, 109:2-18-02 titled Officer training requirements, 109:2-18-04 titled Reimbursement of training costs, and 109:2-18-05 titled Agency record keeping and reporting.

Changes proposed for OAC 109:2-1-02, 109:2-1-12, 109:2-9-11 clarifies the rules to simplify the application for experienced, proficient peace officers, and make the process more equitable; proposed changes in 109:2-18-02 include changes to clarify the rule language; proposed changes in 109:2-18-04 will clarify and simplify the requirements and process for administering continuing professional training reimbursements to law enforcement agencies; and, proposed changes in 109:2-18-05 clarify evidentiary standards for verifying training reimbursement requirements.
