    DEPARTMENT OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES

    PURSUANT TO SECTION 5107.05 AND CHAPTER 119. OF THE OHIO REVISED CODE, THE DIRECTOROF THE DEPARTMENT OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES GIVES NOTICE OF THE DEPARTMENT'S INTENT TO AMEND RULE 5101:4-6-16 ON A PERMANENT BASIS AND OF A PUBLIC HEARING THEREON.

    Rule 5101:4-6-16 entitled "Food Stamps: AGs with a decrease in income from a federal, state, or local means-tested program due to failure to comply," sets forth the policy requirement that if cash benefits of an assistance group are reduced under a Federal, State, or local means tested program, the assistance group many not receive an increased food stamp allotment as a result of that failure. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is being removed from the definition of a federal "means-tested public assistance program".

    A public hearing on the proposed rules will be held on October 23, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. in Room 1823, 30 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio. Either written or verbal testimony will be taken at the public hearing. Additionally, written comments submitted or postmarked by October 23, 2002 will be treated as testimony.
