    To provide policies and practices relating to licensing requirements for type A child care homes. These policies were previously in 5101:2-13-18.

    This rule sets forth the requirements for vehicles used by type A child care homes

    to transport children. These vehicles must be mechanically safe, must be inspected regularly and must have emergency equipment onboard. No later than January 1, 2013, all vehicles used must conform to all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

    Type A providers may experience an increase in costs to purchase or equip vehicles that will comply with the requirements of this rule, however, the rule allows for an extended time period of more than three years before compliance is required, allowing providers the ability to plan for the purchase and use of appropriate vehicles.
