NOTIFICATION OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice of hearing to amend Rule 4501:1-1-08

of the Ohio Administrative Code in accordance with Chapter 119. of the Ohio Revised Code

 

Notice is hereby given that a hearing will be held by the Registrar of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety for the purpose of considering the above-listed proposed administrative rule.

 

As authorized in Sections 4501.02 and 4506.09 of the Ohio Revised Code, the Registrar of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles has proposed to amend Rule 4501:1- 1-08 of the Ohio Administrative Code regarding pre-temporary driver and commercial driver examination requirements and procedures. Proposed rule changes are for the purpose of updating commercial driver's license examination requirements, providing clarity, updating agency names, and enhancing testing procedures to help assure that only qualified commercial drivers are licensed.

Proposed changes update agency names, eliminate the commercial driver's license testing exception which allows for oral testing of those taking the school bus test, and require that the school bus and hazardous materials tests be taken in English. In addition to written form, proposed rule changes allow these tests to be taken in electronic form.

 

A public hearing on the proposed rule will be held Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in room 109 (first floor) of the Charles D. Shipley Building, Ohio Department of Public Safety, 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio.

 

Either written or oral testimony will be received at the hearing.  Additionally, written comments received at the address below before the hearing will be treated as testimony.
