3364-82-08. Length of time for completion of upper division courses in undergraduate nursing major (pre-licensure BSN and RN-BSN)

  • (A) Policy statement

    (1) Pre-licensure bachelor of science in nursing "BSN" students have three academic years (nine consecutive semesters to complete the program from the semester of matriculation of the nursing major) to complete the upper division component courses in the nursing major.

    (2) Registered nurse "RN"-BSN have six academic years from the semester of matriculation to complete the upper division component courses in the nursing major.

    (3) There is no limit on the number of times a student can repeat a "NURS" course so long as the courses in the major are completed in the specified timeframes.

    (4) The student may petition for up to a one academic year extension by completing the request for extension- undergraduate form.

    (5) A university of Toledo "UT" student who has retaken a course may petition to have a grade excluded from UT grade point average "GPA" computation in accordance with the repeating a course and calculating GPA policy. Bowling Green state university "BGSU" students will follow BGSU policy regarding GPA calculation.

    (B) Purpose of policy

    To establish a length of time for completion of upper division courses in the undergraduate nursing major (pre-licensure BSN and RN-BSN).

    (C) Scope

    This policy applies to all students who are in the upper division courses in the undergraduate nursing major (pre-licensure BSN and RN-BSN).
